A 73-year-old man, whose personal details have not been released, has died while sailing two miles off the coast off La Manga del Mar Menor, after suffering a cardiac arrest.
A call to the Emergency Coordination Centre ‘1-1-2’ indicated that they were on their way to the Port of Tomas Maestre in La Manga, with a man who had suffered a cardiac arrest two miles off the coast. On the way they were performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
The Coordinating Doctor of the Gerencia de Urgencias y Emergencias Sanitarias 061 gave the appropriate instructions for CPR to be carried out, at the same time as a medical unit was sent to the area of the petrol station in the Port of Tomas Maestre, the indicated point of contact with the boat that was transporting the affected person.
In the end, the medics were unable to do anything to save the life of the 73-year-old man, despite continuous attempts at resuscitation.
