More than 500 students from 3rd and 4th year of Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) and 1st year of Baccalaureate will be able to carry out school exchanges next academic year 2022/23 in schools in German, Chinese (Mandarin), French, English, Italian and Portuguese-speaking countries. The Regional Ministry of Education and Sport has announced the school exchange programme aimed at reinforcing language learning outside the school environment.
The aim of this initiative is to improve knowledge of other languages, with particular emphasis on listening comprehension and oral practice in familiar and educational environments. The programme also aims for students to acquire positive attitudes towards language learning in particular, and lifelong learning in general, to develop positive attitudes of coexistence and cooperation, and to learn about the cultural reality of the country in which the stay takes place.
The exchanges will last a maximum of ten days and will take place between October this year and May 2023. During the stay, two teachers from IES will accompany each group of up to 15 students.
Interested secondary schools have until 12 May to submit their applications, which will be accompanied by a programme of activities to be carried out in the foreign centre. In addition, the Regional Ministry will also take into account other criteria such as being a bilingual or multilingual centre or participating in the José Saramago or Confucius Classrooms programme, being authorised to develop educational compensation plans or having developed educational projects in the Erasmus + programme, among others.
