The Levante Firefighters, at the request of a call from the 112 Almeria Coordination Centre, rescued two people, a man and a woman, who had fallen off a cliff over 30 metres high in the area known as «Cala Cristal», belonging to the coast of Villaricos, in Cuevas del Almanzora.
Apparently and according to information from the injured themselves, they were going to take a selfie on the cliff and for unknown reasons, they fell off the cliff.
The Levante Firefighters, in the call received by the Coordination Centre requesting their help, were also informed that the health services, Guardia Civil and Local Police of Cuevas del Almanzora had already been alerted.
The Levante fire brigade sent three teams from the Turre and Huércal Overa fire stations to the scene of the accident.
On arriving at the scene, they found two people fallen and the Guardia Civil, who were already accompanying the victims.
After an initial assessment, it was decided to immobilise the injured with a vacuum mattress in order to rescue them safely.
First, the 32-year-old female patient, who apparently had several fractures, was transferred to the ambulance and taken to the Huercal Overa hospital in the first ambulance.
They then proceeded to rescue the man, who apparently had superficial damage that was not serious. It was also decided to immobilise him with a vacuum mattress and he was also placed at the disposal of the medical staff who, in a second ambulance, transported him to the hospital in Huercal Overa.
The rescue was carried out by Los Bomberos del Levante in collaboration with the Guardia Civil, as well as the Local Police of Cuevas del Almanzora.
The prognosis for both injured is reserved until further medical tests are carried out at the Huercal Overa health centre.
