Huércal-Overa Town Hall has started the treatment campaign to control mosquito larvae, fleas and other insects.
The work, which has already begun, is being carried out on public roads, schools, plots of land, wetlands, ponds and water collection points, and will continue over the coming months until the summer.
The councillor for Services, Andrés Sánchez, explained that we are launching this campaign with the aim of avoiding possible plagues of mosquitoes and other insects in different areas of the municipality which are frequented daily by our neighbours and where these insects proliferate. From the Consistory we are aware of the importance of taking care of the health of our neighbours as well as the environment, that is why we use products that are not harmful to animals or people. However, the work is carried out at times when these places are not busy”.
This broad-spectrum insecticide treatment is in addition to the fumigation that is carried out annually to prevent the appearance of cockroaches, rodents and processionaries, “we work with planning to prevent the proliferation of possible pests that could cause problems for our neighbours”. Fumigations are carried out periodically in the different parks, green areas and public roads to avoid any type of pest.
