The competitions will take place on 4 and 5 June and will correspond to the fourth and fifth day of the National Triathlon League.

Águilas will host the Copa de Rey de Triatlón y de la Reina Iberdrola and the Campeonato de España de Triatlón por Relevos on 4 and 5 June. These massive events are returning to the Murcian municipality, a traditional venue for the Spanish Triathlon Federation, where these competitions have already been held in the past, and where the Triathlon Federation of the Region of Murcia, together with the Municipal Sports Board of Águilas, will deploy a wide range of resources for their correct organisation.

Both competitions correspond to the fourth and fifth day of the National Triathlon League which, after the start in Roquetas de Mar, will be held in the coastal town with the participation of clubs from all over Spain. In addition, the fourth and fifth day of the National Triathlon Talent Clubs League will be held, reserved for the lower categories, with the Talent Team Time Trial and Talent Relay championships.

For Cristóbal Casado, Councillor for Sports of the Águilas Town Council, the town “has great expectations for this year’s edition of the triathlon and is looking forward to it very much after two years without experiencing it fully due to circumstances”. The entire municipal team is working together with FETRI “to raise the ramp again and make a more spectacular competition with new features such as the finish line on the beach, or a ramp on the promenade that will allow new access to the sand for the athletes and the public”. Also planned is “a larger transition area to accommodate all the teams in a competition with a large number of participants”.

The championships will also mean “a great tourist impact that all the hotels, hotels and commerce of the municipality and the surrounding area are looking forward to. There has been no lack of national tourism when it has been possible, but the absence of international tourism has been noted, so a big event like the triathlon and with so many people who are going to travel is great news for everyone”. Cristóbal Casado also recalls that “the triathletes make themselves felt in all sectors, they like to come with time and days before to recognise the segments and circuits. We are sure that it will be a week of shoes and bikes that we will all enjoy in Águilas,” concludes the councilman aguileño.
