The passion for motor racing returns to the province through the 10 races of this year’s ‘Trofeo Diputación de Almería’ until next December. The Moisés Ruiz Pavilion hosted the presentation of this Trophy, promoted by the Provincial Council and the Andalusian Tourism Federation with the support of the province’s motoring clubs.
The Deputy for Sport, José Antonio García, and the President of the Andalusian Automobile Federation (FAA), Manuel Borbalán, presented these races and VOLPA, a Web-App for the recruitment of volunteers to improve the organisation of the races in each of the events promoted by José Soto, President of Hereje Competición. The event was attended by councillors and mayors of the host municipalities, as well as representatives of the clubs.
José Antonio García stressed that «the provincial circuits are important because they are the backbone of the whole province, we are going to reach from the capital to the smallest village in the province. With a very complete calendar with 10 races, we are proud of this because it positions the province as a land closely linked to motor sport».
Manuel Borbalán assured that «the union between sport and tourism is fundamental to promote the regions. Thanks to this sport, fans move around the province and get to know the provincial territory». He also highlighted the important broadcasting work carried out by the Federation to promote the sport and the municipalities: through ATV, 120 local channels and the Federation’s live broadcasts.
The calendar runs from February to December with 10 races:

VALLE DEL ALMANZORA RALLYE – 2nd July
RALLYCRONO HEREJE- 10th and 11th September
SUBIDA A BERJA- 24th and 25th September
MARMOL RIDE- 29th and 30th October
RALLYE COSTA DE ALMERÍA- 4 and 5 November
SLALOM DE PURCHENA- 26th November
RALLYCRONO DE GÁDOR- 19th and 20th of November
RALLYCRONO DE CANTORIA- 10th and 11th December
In addition to these events, three other motor racing events are held in Almeria which are not included in the championship as they are not compatible with the others, such as the Andalusian Speed Championship at the Tabernas Circuit, the Nijar Autocross and the Taberno EXTREME 4X4.
The regulations of the Provincial Championship contemplate the participation of all drivers and co-drivers with a licence issued by the Andalusian Automobile Federation and who were born or are currently resident in the province of Almería.
The participation permits for each event will not score points or block points, although they will be eligible for the particular trophies of each event.
To have access to the Final Prizes of the Championship you must have participated in at least one race of 3 different modalities in the province of Almeria. These modalities would be: RALLY RALLY, MOUNTAIN, RALLYCRONOS, CRONOMETRED TRACK IN LAND, CRONOMETRADAS and SLALOM.
This year and as a novelty, the Almeria Championship for Co-drivers – Diputación Trophy is created, in which to have access to the final prizes, it will be compulsory to have participated in at least 2 different modalities in the province of Almeria between: Asphalt Rallyes, Rallyes, and Tramo Cronometrado de Tierra and Rallycronos.
All sport drivers who wish to score points in the ‘Campeonato Provincial de Automovilismo de Almería 2022’ Trofeo Diputación de Almería, must fill in the form on the FAA website prior to the event in which they wish to participate, not adding that result if they register after the event. In order to obtain points in an event of this competition, you must be registered beforehand. Registration is completely free and in each of the races trophies will be awarded to the first 3 participants.
In each of the qualifying rounds of the ‘Campeonato Provincial de Automovilismo de Almería 2022’, the following points will be awarded, according to the General Classification:
20 points for 1st,
19 points for second place
In decreasing order until 20th with 1 point.
The Classification will be obtained from the total sum of points multiplied by the coefficient described below:

RALLYCRONO: 1,4,
TIMED DIRT SECTION: 1,4
TIMED STAGES: 1.2
MOUNTAIN: 1

The absolute winner/s of the «CAMPEONATO PROVINCIAL DE AUTOMOVILISMO DE ALMERIA 2022» will be proclaimed Provincial Champion of Drivers and Co-Drivers. The prizes will be awarded in January 2023 in a place to be designated by the Organising Committee.
New website for volunteers
During the event, the website www.voluntariosautomovilismo.com was presented. It is a new digital platform of services devised by the Almeria-based club Hereje Competición.
Voluntarios Para el Automovilismo (VOLPA) is aimed at making it easier for the organisers of motorsport events in Andalusia to gather the volunteers needed to organise their events.
At the same time, it also makes it easier for Andalusian motorsport enthusiasts to enjoy their passion from within, actively participating in the many needs involved in the organisation of motorsport events.
It is only necessary to register on the web portal www.voluntariosautomovilismo.com to be able to access its services, both on the part of the organisers, to publish their sporting events in which to ask for volunteers, and on the part of the volunteers to be able to access the registration in the published events.
Therefore, VOLPA is nothing more than a mere intermediary that puts organisers and volunteers in contact with each other in an easy, fast and efficient way.
Registration on the website is completely free of charge. Only a small fee will be applied to the organisers as a subsidy to cover the management and maintenance costs of the platform for each volunteer who registers and confirms their attendance at an event. This fee will be agreed by mutual agreement between both parties, VOLPA – Organiser, once the registration period for volunteers to the event is closed.
The volunteers registered on the platform will see their event, all the details and needs and also the proposal of compensation of expenses for collaboration services offered by the organiser and each volunteer will decide whether or not he/she wants to register freely.
