A 35-year-old woman is in a very serious condition after being run over early this morning in the Plaza San Ginés in the municipality of Cartagena by a driver who fled “at high speed”, according to the Emergency Coordination Centre 1-1-2 Region of Murcia.
The emergency services have received from 02.36 hours a dozen calls reporting the hit and run and that the victim was unconscious, in a serious condition and in cardiorespiratory arrest, so they have proceeded to start cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers.
Local police officers from Cartagena City Council, the National Police and an ambulance from the 061 Emergency Medical Service (a Mobile Emergency Unit) were mobilised to the scene of the incident. For their part, the medical staff of the UME attended to the victim on the spot.
After alerting the haemodynamics service and the emergency door, they transferred the woman to the Hospital General Universitario Santa Lucía in a very serious condition and with cranioencephalic trauma.
