The Extraordinary Plenary Session held yesterday Friday at 20.30 hours in the municipality of Tíjola, convened as a result of an alleged sexist crime, has established the following agreements:
First: To declare official mourning in the town of Tíjola for three days, from 9 p.m. today, Friday, until 9 p.m. on Monday, 30 May, due to the death of Ms. M.C.P., a resident of the town as a result of alleged gender violence. This declaration will mean that all the flags of Tíjola that fly outside municipal public buildings will be lowered to half mast and those that fly inside will be placed in black bunting.
Second.- To show the condolences and solidarity of the Plenary of this Town Council and of all the residents of Tíjola to the family of the victim, in the hope that we will never again have to mourn the loss of another life.
Third: To suspend all public events organised by this Town Council.
Fourth.- To call a rally in the Plaza de España (Town Hall) at 12.00 tomorrow Saturday 28th May, observing five minutes of silence.
It should be remembered that this afternoon the death of a local woman was reported, presumably at the hands of her husband, who allegedly turned himself in at the local police station in Vera at 17.50 hours.
The body of the woman was found by one of her sons at around 3pm on Friday in the family home in the centre of the town.
The Guardia Civil is investigating the facts to determine the cause of death of M.C.P. aged 50.
