The Villa de Fines women’s futsal team have achieved the objective they set themselves at the beginning of the season, which was to achieve promotion to the first Andalusian league.
This Sunday at the Fernando Navarrete Pavilion, the fineras beat Linares 7-0, a team that had no chance either in the first leg (Fines won 1-5) or in the second leg.
The team coached by Francis Cano, who has left in the air his continuity at the head of the light blue team for next season, is an experienced team, with a short squad, but where four of its players have participated last year in the second division. That was enough to see them through the local championship, in which they were crowned champions, and in this two-legged promotion.
This technical superiority was enough for Villa de Fines to beat CD Linares, a team that tried, based on the order and will of its players, to challenge the Almanzora team for promotion. This Sunday’s match will not go down in history either for the game or for expectations. It is only the realisation of an objective set at the beginning of the season, after Villa de Fines gave up their place in the second national futsal division.
As an anecdote, the result was a heavy scoreline despite the home team taking their foot off the accelerator.
Two goals from Nerea, two from Vero, Helena, Karen and Reme made the final score 7-0.
Now it’s time for the Cup final in Vícar and Fines are aiming for the treble.
As a highlight, before the start of the match a banner against gender violence was displayed and a minute’s silence was held in memory of the woman from Tíjola, murdered by her husband last Friday.
Fines is one of the municipalities of the Almanzora where this social scourge has hit hardest. In June 2011 Rosa Galera was murdered by her ex-husband.
