The campaign, promoted by the Community, is a milestone in Spain. Last year it involved the extraction of more than 3,000 kilos of remains from Águilas to San Pedro.

The II Macro Seabed Clean-up of the Region will bring together, this Saturday, 500 divers to remove the rubbish submerged in the mouths of the ports of the Region. The campaign, promoted by the Community, is a milestone in Spain. Last year it involved the removal of more than 3,000 kilos of debris from Águilas to San Pedro.

Thirty per cent of the volunteers for this clean-up dive come from outside the Region. For safety reasons, participation has been limited to 500 divers, who will set off at 09:00 hours from the different clubs. Last year they removed more than 3,000 pieces from the mouths of the harbours, most of them plastic, as well as pieces from the boats or furniture from the bars.

With the warm weather approaching, the diving centres are improving their forecasts for the season. Its president, Dionisio García, says that there will be more courses and dives this summer and welcomes the fact that greater protection is being considered for the Cabo de Palos area.
