Half a hundred volunteers make a symbolic collection on the beaches of the Mar Menor to denounce the state of the lagoon

Half a hundred people gathered this Sunday in the Plaza del Espejo in Los Alcázares in response to the call made by 14 social and environmental organisations in defence of the Mar Menor and for World Environment Day.

During this event, which was held simultaneously on other beaches in the lagoon, a symbolic removal of ova was carried out to denounce the critical state of the ecosystem. At the end, Jesús Cutillas, from the Colectivo Banderas Negras (Black Flags Collective), read a manifesto in which they called for urgent action to solve the situation.

These same organisations have called for a demonstration on 9 June at 11 a.m. in front of the Regional Ministry of Agriculture, where the collected algae will be deposited.
