The spokesman for the Popular Party in the Town Hall of Zurgena, Domingo Trabalón, has described the resignation of the Mayor of Zurgena, Luis Díaz (PSOE), which took place last week as a pure “electoral strategy” for the municipal elections next year, as he explains that the idea of the socialists is to promote Francisco Martínez as mayor in view of the elections of 28 May 2022 at the head of the Town Hall of Zurgena.
Trabalón recalls that the resignation of the current councillor comes two years too late because since October 2020 he has been working as a teacher without having resigned as mayor, a situation that has finally ended in resignation because Luis Díaz has realised that he cannot reconcile his work as a teacher with the management of a municipality like Zurgena that needs full dedication.
“It is not happy news that a mayor resigns because, despite political disagreements, the residents elected him to represent Zurgena during his four years in office. Furthermore, with his departure as mayor, the municipality is now at the end of a cycle that subjects the municipality to a period of instability with one year to go before the end of the term of office,” he said.
After Luis Díaz’s decision, Domingo Trabalón stresses that “he is already in the past and from now on we only have to talk about Zurgena and the problems that he has not solved in these almost 10 years in office, such as the development of an industrial estate or the construction of a health centre”.
Trabalón ended by wishing “good luck from the bottom of his heart” to the former mayor in this new stage and hoping that Francisco Martínez would count more on the opposition for the good of the municipality.
