The Tomás Maestre Marina in La Manga del Mar Menor will celebrate Marina Day, with an open day as part of the Sea Week Festival which will take place from 9 to 11 June, with an extensive programme of free activities including performances, workshops, raffles, boat trips, tastings and even a tapas route inside the port, among others.
The port officials, Mari Carmen Campoy, president of the port; Tomi Garcia, events coordinator, public relations and the manager, Luis Manzano, went to the San Javier Town Hall to present together with the Councillor for Culture, David Martinez, the programme of activities, which will be free and open to all the public, organised by the Port with the collaboration of the San Javier Town Hall.
Tomi García announced that the programme will start on the 9th June at 22:00h with a family show starring Ximo Ilusionista. The night of Friday 10th is reserved for humour with JM Martínez and El Famoso Trino and their show “La voz del becario Lite”. On Saturday 11th June Marina Day will be celebrated with a day full of activity in the port where you can visit a Craft Fair, the 1st Nautical Accessories Fair, boat trips in the Canal del Estacio and Mar Menor, snorkelling in Farallon and Isla Grosa. There will also be nautical excursions in kayak and paddle surf, an exhibition of classic SEAT 600, ham and sardine tasting, a children’s fishing competition, a tapas route among the port’s catering sector and a batucada to liven up the atmosphere in the port.
Amongst the activities planned there will be a tribute to the Security Forces, such as the Local Police, Civil Protection, Civil Guard and Maritime Rescue, in recognition of their service, on a day which will end with a final gala in which more than 40 gifts will be raffled off from the numbers on the bracelets which each visitor will receive on entering the site.
The Councillor for Culture, David Martínez congratulated the team of the Tomás Maestre Marina for organising this type of event which helps to revitalise the area and highlighted the municipal collaboration with “this iconic area of the municipality”, where this summer, as usual, the Jazz and Theatre, Music and Dance festivals will also be held, with two shows in July and August. The Mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, who joined the event together with the Councillor for Tourism and Beaches, Antonio Martínez, stressed the importance of this event which contributes to opening up the largest port in Europe with more than 1700 moorings and making it known to society.
