The Andalusian Youth Institute, an agency under the Ministry of Employment, Training and Self-Employment, reports on its website Patio Joven about the availability of places in the youth volunteer camps to be developed in the province of Almeria, specifically ‘La Cerrá de Tíjola: a path of two worlds’, and ‘Conservation and maintenance practices in mountain habitats in the Sierra Nevada Natural Park’, in Abrucena. The registration period will be open until the places offered are filled.
The Volunteer Camp ‘La Cerrá de Tíjola: a path of two worlds’, will take place from July 16 to 30, 2022. It is of national character and has 20 places for young people aged 18 to 30 years, of which there are currently 12 vacancies; the application key is AN-02. The project focuses on the recovery of a river path, improving its viability for walking, signaling its biodiversity and the values of its rich geological heritage. It has the City Council of Tíjola as the organizing entity.
This youth volunteer camp will be developed through group work led by a team of expert geologists, biologists and environmental educators, in which the interaction of young participants with the rural population will play an important role in the recovery of oral traditions of cultural heritage. In this way, the isolation of rural areas in the interior of Andalusia, which has led to the loss of emblematic places such as La Cerrá de Tíjola, will be combated.
In this place can be observed from the Phoenician vestiges to the water mills that supplied electricity. The actions in this trail involve, in addition to the enhancement, the recovery of local memory.
The Volunteer Camp ‘Conservation and maintenance practices in mountain habitats in the Sierra Nevada Natural Park’ will be held from August 21 to September 4 in Abrucena, and has an international character, so that young people from other countries can participate. It has 20 places for young people between 18 and 30 years, of which one is free. The organizing entity is the Natures S. C. A. cooperative.
Those interested in registering for these two youth volunteer camps can do so by calling the Provincial Directorate of IAJ in Almeria 600 160 188 and 600 160 200 or by sending an email to email@example.com.
The Youth Volunteer Camps allow young people from different backgrounds to develop a work of social projection and complementary activities, on a voluntary and disinterested basis. These projects promote the values of coexistence, tolerance, solidarity, participation and intercultural respect and the activities are framed in areas such as social intervention, historical-artistic and/or cultural heritage, archeology and the environment.
