A new family has joined the neighbourhood of Sierro thanks to the subsidised housing that the Almeria Provincial Council has for rent to buy in the province. This has been specified by the Deputy for Housing, Conce Pérez, who has detailed that during the last Governing Board has given the green light to a new contract that will facilitate access to housing to a young family.
Specifically, the Sierro development consists of 10 homes for rent with the option to buy for 10 years, although thanks to the Plan Vive, the option to buy can be exercised from the third year onwards. The monthly rents for these homes vary between 150 and 200€ and 100% of the instalments paid are discounted from the price at the time of exercising the option to buy.
Conce Pérez has highlighted that with this measure the Diputación «contributes effectively to equal opportunities among the people of Almeria and to fix the population in the inland municipalities, giving the possibility to families who do not have access to bank financing to have a home with all the comforts and with the advantage of, in the future, discounting the quotas».

In this sense, the deputy has pointed out that initiatives such as the implementation of rent to buy have a direct impact on the fight against depopulation and create the opportunity for professionals who have the option of teleworking to move to the interior of the province.
The location of the homes in Sierro is very good and all of them have terraces with views of the valley. In addition, the houses have top quality materials and cross-ventilation systems that make them more efficient.
Currently, in the province there are only houses available in Sierro and Taberno, since the rest of the developments have all the houses rented, with the exception of Gádor which, once repaired, will put six houses into service.
The Diputación has promoted subsidised housing developments in 17 municipalities and is also currently assisting the town councils that promote subsidised housing, in the drafting of the projects and in obtaining the aid granted by the Junta de Andalucía (Andalusian Regional Government).
