The municipalities of Urrácal, Arboleas and Fondón are to improve their municipal roads thanks to the investments to be made by the Diputación de Almería. This was stated by the vice-president, Ángel Escobar, who explained that the Governing Board has approved three projects totalling more than 320,000 euros, between the Roads Plan and the Provincial Plans, to improve the road infrastructure of these municipalities of the Almanzora and Alpujarra.
Ángel Escobar has highlighted the importance of improving communications and municipal roads: “They are fundamental because they improve the safety of the residents and workers who use them, while at the same time making it easier for the agri-food production of the province of Almería to leave the area. Diputación collaborates with the municipalities so that they can look their best and boost their economy,” he said.
In the case of Urrácal, this is a project for the integral improvement of the access road to the Ermita, La Era and Cementerio in Urrácal. This is a fundamental work because it addresses, in addition to paving and safety in the neighbourhood of La Ermita, the improvement of basic networks (sewerage, paving and electricity) for the residents of this area of the municipality.
With a budget of 170,000 euros, this action will put an end to the risks posed by the lack of pavements in their entirety and the damage to the safety barriers. To achieve this, the following actions, among others, will be carried out:
Demolition of existing elements such as pavements on the road, masonry pilasters and railings, removal of biondas. The existing metal railing on the access road to the cemetery will be removed and then replaced.
Construction of a reinforced concrete retaining wall on the left bank of C/Ermita to guarantee the stability of the existing road.
Renovation of the supply and drainage networks.
Installation of metal barriers
Renovation of the existing street lighting conduits and renovation of manholes, wiring and connections.
Horizontal and vertical signposting at the beginning of C/Ermita at its intersection with the AL-6102 road.
In Arboleas, with an investment of 75,000 euros, the Provincial Council will undertake a project consisting of the repair and maintenance of a section of the AL-8107 road. The work will consist of improving the road surface and ditches.
Finally, in Fondón, three roads in the municipal network will be repaired and maintained: Camino de la Bolsa, Camino del Ramizal and Camino de las Ánimas with an investment of 64,400 euros. Both roads will retain their layout and width.
The Camino de la Bolsa currently has deteriorated asphalt paving and will be renovated, as will the Camino del Ramizal, which has blandones, and the Camino de las Animas, which has no asphalt and has slabs.
More than 10 million in roads
The 2020 Municipal Roads Plan has thus closed with more than 10 million euros for the improvement of roads in the 103 municipalities. These projects are 100% financed with provincial funds and are essential to facilitate agricultural and livestock activity.
