The Marble School completes a new training course on load handling
Nine people have completed this training which qualifies them to use forklift trucks, overhead cranes and hoists.

The National Reference Centre (CRN) of the Natural Stone and Marble School of Fines, attached to the Andalusian Employment Service, has finished this week a training itinerary that has been completed by nine unemployed people, who have received theoretical and practical training in one of the most demanded occupations by the companies of the natural stone sector, such as the handling of loads with cranes, hoists and forklifts.

The itinerary, which also has professional opportunities in important sectors in the province of Almeria such as agro-industry or logistics, has had a total of 80 teaching hours distributed in two modules: handling loads with forklift trucks and handling loads with overhead cranes and hoists. This training leads to a level 1 certificate of professionalism, a qualification that facilitates job placement.

The students who have completed this itinerary are made up of nine unemployed people, two of whom are women and seven of whom are men. Forty-four percent are under 30 years old, 33% are between 30 and 45 years old and 22% are over this age. As for the level of education, 55% have basic education, 22% have secondary education and the same percentage have a baccalaureate degree.

This itinerary is the seventh training action that has been launched within the 2021-2023 programme of the Marble School, which includes eight actions (seven itineraries of different specialities and a teaching course of the FPE, the latter of which is already underway). The programme totals 3,910 teaching hours, including work experience in companies, and is aimed at 120 unemployed people in total. The training responds to the needs of natural stone companies and the occupations most in demand in the sector.

The application period for registration in the training itinerary of programming and handling of numerical control machines (CNC), a speciality that is only taught in the Almeria centre within the national territory, is still open until 23 August. It will take place from October 2022 to April 2023, with 615 teaching hours, and includes qualification in handling loads and training and work orientation for students.

To be able to participate in this training action it is necessary to be registered as a non-occupied job seeker in the SAE and to have the title of Graduate in Compulsory Secondary Education or equivalent.

You can also apply until 21 September to participate in the itinerary of ‘Auxiliary operations in natural stone processing plants and digital skills’. With 156 places available, it will be taught between November 2022 and March 2023 with a total of 415 teaching hours that include internships in companies and training in basic digital skills and job placement and job search techniques. Students who complete the itinerary will be able to apply for the level 1 certificate of professionalism.

In order to participate in this training action it is necessary to be registered as a non-occupational job seeker in the SAE and no academic qualifications or professional experience is required.

Those who belong to the following groups will have a higher score: young people under 30 years of age, women, people with disabilities (for whom one of the 15 places will be reserved), people affected by and victims of terrorism, women victims of gender violence, people at risk of social exclusion, people with the status of refugees/asylum seekers or returned Andalusian emigrants.

Students are entitled to receive the grants and aid established for unemployed participants in Vocational Training for Employment training actions for transport, meals, accommodation and reconciliation with the care of children under six years of age or dependent family members, and grants for assistance to people with disabilities and certain groups of unemployed people established by the SAE that require a differentiated action to facilitate their qualification or requalification to enable their participation in specific programmes.
