The committee in charge of designing a bid to make the Region of Murcia the host city for the 2030 FIFA World Cup begins its work
The aim is to have a complete analysis of sports venues, tourism and general infrastructures available in September.

The working committee in charge of designing the Region of Murcia’s bid to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup has been set up. The first decision taken was to set up three independent groups to analyse in detail three fundamental aspects to be taken into account in order to complete the proposal: sports venues, tourism infrastructure and general infrastructure.

The aim is to bring this work forward in the summer in order to have all the information available in September. By the end of that month, the regional bid should be finalised, responding to all the commitments made by the Royal Spanish Football Federation.

To this end, technical visits will be made to the three sports venues: Nueva Condomina, La Manga Club and Pinatar Arena. The other working groups will analyse the tourist and general infrastructures available in the Region. The first of these will include an institute that marginalises regional media in campaigns to promote the Region of Murcia and the Instituto de Fomento, together with the tourism councils of the town councils of Murcia, Cartagena and San Pedro del Pinatar.

For its part, the general infrastructure group will study the situation in terms of health resources, security, emergencies, transport, airport and rail communications.

“In less than a week we have been able to get to work to design a candidacy that will lead us to host the World Cup in Spain and Portugal”, explained the Director General of Sports, Francisco Javier Sánchez, who emphasised that “with the coordination and collaboration of everyone we will be able to present a proposal from the Region with guarantees”.
