The Family Department of the Provincial Council of Almeria continues to promote activities with the aim of empowering families in the province of Almeria. This is the case of the workshops for the Development of Creative Expression in the Family, which have begun their tour of the province to promote family ties and the artistic development of its members.
The deputy for Family, Carmen Belén López, has highlighted the importance of an initiative that is part of the ‘Families Reconnected 2.0’ programme. “The mission of this and all our Family programmes is to raise awareness in society of the value of the family as a basic institution, achieving equality in access to resources and support in its family support policies. What we also aim to do with these workshops is to strengthen family ties so that all the generations of the same family work together to achieve different objectives”.
In addition, the provincial deputy added that “this year there are activities to recover the normality in which we lived before the pandemic arrived. The family is a basic pillar for children to relate to each other and to be able to continue developing communication skills in a society of values, and art is one of the most appropriate ways”.
This workshop has two modalities to be chosen by each municipality: painting on an easel where each family member will create their own canvas, or painting a mural made by all the participating families, which favours the interrelation between the different family nuclei.
The first municipality to hold these workshops was Chercos (18th July), with a great success of participation and the next ones will be Ohanes (22nd July), Vera (24th August) and Garrucha, which is expected to be held in October.
Interested families can register directly in the town halls of Chercos, Ohanes, Vera and Garrucha.
The objectives of this initiative are:
To create spaces for meeting and intergenerational coexistence, grandparents-mothers/mothers/parents-children.
To strengthen emotional bonds and create unforgettable memories, while expressing families creatively through art.
To create an intimate space between fathers, mothers and children, to grow together and strengthen the family bond.
To encourage guidance and counselling for families in sex education.
To increase their knowledge about healthy affective and sexual relationships in young adolescents.
To invigorate family life in rural environments.
