Emergency services have not been able to save a 52-year-old man who has died victim of immersion syndrome on the Amoladeras beach in La Manga del Mar Menor, in the municipality of Cartagena, according to sources from the Emergency Coordination Centre consulted by Europa Press.
The Emergency Coordination Centre 112 Region of Murcia received a call this Sunday at 14.55 hours, reporting that there was a person about 30 metres from the coast who could not get out of the water. Lifeguards from the Civil Protection of Cartagena, located in the Entremares area, rescued the person and proceeded to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Two rapid intervention vehicles with nurses from the Civil Protection of Cartagena, a patrol of the Guardia Civil and the Local Police and a Mobile Emergency Unit from the 061 Emergency and Emergencies Department also attended the scene.
The rescuers managed to bring the victim out of cardiorespiratory arrest, but he subsequently went into cardiorespiratory arrest again and the doctors of the Mobile Emergency Unit reported his death.
