In July, registered unemployment increased in Almería by 689 persons with respect to the month of June. This figure represents an increase of 1.11%, bringing the total number of unemployed in the province to 62,857 people. In year-on-year terms, unemployment fell by 4,527, or 6.72%, compared to July 2021.
By sex, male unemployment stood at 25,843 unemployed men in June, while the total number of unemployed women was 37,014.
By age, the figure for youth unemployment, i.e. for those under 25, is 4,862 unemployed. Among those over 25, the number of unemployed is 57,995. Of the total number of unemployed, 15,325 are foreign nationals.
Unemployment by economic sector
The increase in unemployment compared to last month occurred in the services sector (918), in industry (21) and in construction (63). Unemployment fell, however, in agriculture (-271) and in the previously unemployed (-42). The unemployment structure by sector in the province of Almeria is as follows: services sector 41,341 unemployed, agriculture 9,119, unemployed without previous employment 5,305, construction 4,978 and industry 2,114.
Hiring
In July, the total number of contracts signed in the province was 28,445, which means 1,113 contracts less than in the previous month, 3.77% less. In year-on-year terms, hiring decreased by -390 contracts, a decrease of 1.35%. According to the sector of economic activity, 19,311 contracts were signed in June in the services sector, 6,574 in agriculture, 1,349 in construction and 1,211 in industry.
Permanent contracts signed this month exceeded temporary contracts for the fourth consecutive month: permanent contracts amounted to 14,347 while temporary contracts amounted to 14,098.
As for the accumulated contracting data, so far this year, 183,992 contracts have been signed in Almeria, of which 43.40% have been permanent contracts. This rate of permanent contracts is above the rate registered in the same period in Andalusia (29.64%) and at national level (35.34%). Of the total number of contracts signed, 8,191 were for foreign nationals.
