In two separate and unrelated actions, the Guardia Civil clarifies a crime of robbery and theft and arrests four people as perpetrators.
This action is part of the ongoing work of the Guardia Civil in the province of Almeria for the resolution and prevention of crimes against property.
In a first investigation, the Guardia Civil has knowledge following a complaint, that a group of people are engaged in committing thefts in the province of Almeria, using the method known as Siembra, which is to observe at the entrances to banks to their victims to control the withdrawals of money and throw several coins to the ground created a distraction in order to snatch the same.
In this case, the victim, who had already been previously controlled by the perpetrators, goes to the bank in her vehicle to make a deposit of her company’s takings, at which point the perpetrator draws her attention through the window and, throwing the coins on the floor, distracts her while another accomplice steals her purse containing 25,000 euros.
The staff in charge of the investigation gathers all the information resulting from the ocular inspections and interviews with witnesses, successfully achieving the identification of a vehicle, through which they identify, locate and arrest the perpetrator, who is recognised without any doubt by the victim, the investigation remains open not ruling out further arrests.
In the second action the Guardia Civil is aware that three people are committing robberies and thefts inside a campsite located in the municipality of Cuevas del Almanzora.
The personnel in charge of the investigation, once the corresponding inspection of the place had been carried out, determined that the perpetrators gained access by jumping over a fence at the back of the campsite and that the thefts were mainly carried out outside the caravans.
The Guardia Civil organised several surveillance operations that had a positive result, after locating the perpetrators when they were about to enter a housing development under construction, at which point they were arrested (where an officer was injured due to the great resistance offered) and the stolen objects were recovered.
As a result of these two actions, the Guardia Civil of Almeria clarified a crime of burglary and six crimes of theft and arrested four people as perpetrators.
The proceedings, together with the detainees, are placed at the disposal of the Court of First Instance and Instruction Nº1 and Nº2 of Vera.
