The mayor of Tíjola, José Juan Martínez, has announced that he will stand for re-election as mayor of the municipality under the banner of the Partido Popular. In this way, the councillor – who became mayor as a candidate for Ciudadanos and with a pact with the PP – will be the Partido Popular’s candidate for mayor. As we reported in La Comarca Noticias, the transfer would become official, after that of the mayors of Albanchez and Los Gallardos, thus strengthening the territorial power of the PP in the area.
The mayor of Tíjola, has highlighted the values of “loyalty and commitment” that have presided over the government pact signed in 2019 to ensure governability in the municipality and the support it has had in these more than 3 years of the PP governments in the Junta de Andalucía and Diputación: “This decision is motivated by the great support that the PP has given us both at municipal, provincial and regional level. The residents of Tíjola are now seeing historic projects for the municipality become a reality thanks to the loyalty and commitment that Juanma Moreno and Javier A. García have given us”.
Martínez said he was convinced that this was the “best decision” to achieve the objective of Tíjola “consolidating itself as a reference point for the Almanzora region”. The mayor recalled some of the projects that have become a reality in recent years and that would not have been possible without the decisive support of the Diputación and Junta de Andalucía:
Comprehensive reform of the San Juan neighbourhood
Swimming pool in El Higueral
Underpass on the A-344
Plaza Abastos building, which will have a library, guadalinfo and exhibition hall.
Roundabout in the station neighbourhood.
Cycle lane and west entrance
He also emphasised that everything is already in place for the construction of the “Regional Sports Complex, co-financed with the Junta and Diputación, as well as the construction of a mortuary in El Higueral and an underground car park and a square in the area next to the town hall.
José Juan Martínez has guaranteed that “we will run with the same enthusiasm, the same commitment and putting, as always, the interests of the residents of Tíjola before any other and that is why it is important to have the backing of the Diputación and the Junta de Andalucía”.
