15 people from the region are trained in socio-sanitary care
All the participating students, from 6 municipalities, have been given a job in the company where they have done their internships.

The Diputación de Almería has just closed the first training course in ‘social and health care for dependent people in Social Institutions’ aimed at 15 people from the municipalities of Huércal – Overa, Albox, Partaloa, Vera, Macael and Olula del Río. This course, financed 100% with the Diputación’s own funds, builds a new tool for people from Almeria to improve their academic training and have more opportunities to access the labour market.

Developed between January and August of this year, the fifteen students have completed a total of 450 hours; 370 hours of telematic training and 80 hours of internships. The success of this project has been resounding, as all the people enrolled have been selected to work in the place where they have done their internships.

The Deputy for Economic Promotion and Employment, Carmen Navarro, has focused on the importance of training people who do not have a job and giving them a great opportunity to access the labour market: “we have to fight unemployment so that those who access these types of courses, have a training that will serve them for the future. What is also important is that this training and the entry into the labour market will not only have an impact on the beneficiaries, but also on their families because they will have a new source of income”.

In this sense, the provincial deputy added that “it is also a tool that helps us to fight against depopulation, fixing people in their territory. What these courses do is to equalise opportunities and ensure that all those people who want to live in a municipality have the same opportunities as those who want to live in a capital or larger town. Fifteen people and their families will live and develop a life in the interior of the province”.

Second edition

The Provincial Council is already working on the second edition of these courses which will start next September and will be developed for people from the Filabres – Tabernas region. The aim of the course will remain the same and it is hoped that all the students will be able to enter the labour market once they have completed their work experience.
