The Andalusian Regional Ministry of Justice reinforces the courts of Purchena, Vera and Huércal Overa
The Department of Justice of the Andalusian Regional Government invests 2.8 million in the reinforcement of 22 judicial bodies.

The Regional Ministry of Justice, Local Administration and Civil Service will extend the Special Plan for the Reactivation of the Justice Administration for the remainder of 2022. This plan will run from 15 September to 30 November (11 weeks), and will reinforce 22 judicial bodies in the province of Almeria (219 throughout Andalusia) of which 8 have jurisdiction over gender violence, in addition to the provincial Prosecutor’s Office.

The renewal of these reinforcements will involve a total investment of 2,875,274.28 euros and will allow 683 civil servants throughout Andalusia to work three afternoons a week to decongest the courts after the health crisis generated by COVID-19.

This extends a measure highly valued by the sector. This Reactivation Plan, as in the case of the previous ones, has been taken to the Sectoral Committee and has the approval of the trade union organisations. The actions envisaged respond to the needs proposed by the High Court of Justice of Andalusia (TSJA), which previously determined in a report the judicial and prosecutorial bodies that could benefit from these reinforcements.

Thus, the eight provincial Prosecutor’s Offices, three Institutes of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences (IMLCF) and 219 judicial bodies will be reinforced. Of these, 94 have jurisdiction over Violence against Women – to alleviate the needs that arise after the gradual completion of the reinforcements charged to the State Pact against Gender Violence – and six have jurisdiction over reviews of legal capacity. In the case of the latter, this measure is of particular relevance in view of the legislative reform approved a year ago for the support of persons declared to have judicially modified capacity, which requires a review of the measures established for them over the next three years.

In the case of the province of Almeria, the judicial bodies included in the plan are the Mixed Courts No. 1 of Berja, 4 and 5 of Roquetas, No. 2 of Huércal-Overa, 2 and 3 of Vera; Criminal Courts 1 and 5 of Almeria; Social Courts 1, 2, 3 and 4 of Almeria; Court of First Instance No. 3 of Almeria and the Civil Registry of Almeria.

In addition, the courts with jurisdiction in violence against women in Purchena, the Courts of First Instance and Instruction 1 in Huércal Overa, 1 in Vera, 4 in El Ejido, 2 in Berja and 3 in Roquetas; Section 3 of the Almería Court and the Provincial Public Prosecutor’s Office will be reinforced.

Throughout Andalusia, four forensic doctors and 679 civil servants from the general bodies of the Justice Administration (Procedural and Administrative Management, Procedural and Administrative Processing and Judicial Support) will participate in this plan.

As in the previous phases of this reactivation plan, the self-strengthening measure consists of extending the working hours of the judicial bodies.

reinforcement measure consists of extending the working day three afternoons a week (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday) by a civil servant from each corps. In the Institutes of Forensic Medicine, a forensic doctor, staff from the Procedural and Administrative Processing Corps and staff from the Judicial Aid Corps have been included. In the courts with competence in capacity reviews, the self-reinforcement measure is implemented by means of a processor in each of the bodies,

Periodically, the entry and pendency data of the bodies covered by the plan will be analysed in order to adopt the modifications deemed necessary to guarantee the intended purpose, including the elimination of the measure when the agreed objectives are not being met.

The Reactivation Plan, an unprecedented measure in the Administration of Justice, allocated 15 million euros last term to reinforcements to alleviate the situation of work overload aggravated by the pandemic.
