The Guardia Civil of Almeria alerts the entrepreneurs of the agricultural sector of the existence of a group of fraudsters specialised in the Nazarene Scam that act in the province.
This action is part of the ongoing work of the Guardia Civil in the province of Almeria for the resolution and prevention of crimes against property.
This group of fraudsters pretend to be solvent businessmen to formalise numerous contracts and fictitious businesses with different agricultural product distribution companies and once they receive the goods, they never pay the amount, accumulating unpaid amounts of hundreds of thousands of euros, to later resell the products on the illegal market.
The Guardia Civil began the investigation, which is still open, as a result of the complaints filed by the swindled companies, determining that the swindling company is in fact also a victim of this group that impersonates its identity in order to commit the offences.
Therefore, the Guardia Civil of Almeria recommends caution to the businessmen of the agricultural sector until the investigation is completed and to take the necessary precautions by checking if the company with which they are carrying out their contracts and business is working legally.
The Civil Guard, involved in improving the culture of cybersecurity, created the @ teams in 2021, which in addition to its investigative work, pays maximum attention to the prevention of cybercrime, with the objectives of:
Strengthening the cyber incident response structure.
Ensuring attention to the victims of cyber-attacks.
Receiving complex complaints and resolving them as soon as possible to facilitate the investigation.
Advise and guide members of the Guardia Civil.
Carry out basic investigations at the time the complaint is filed.
Deploy early knowledge of such matters.
