Almeria City Council and the Diputación’s gourmet brand promote Almeria’s products and chefs through different gastronomic activities.

The Almeria Fair becomes a space for the promotion and gastronomic dissemination of the land thanks to the collaboration of the City Council of the capital and the Provincial Council which, through the gourmet brand ‘Sabores Almería’, fill these midday events with activities featuring Almerian products, chefs and recipes.

Today, the stage located on the Paseo de Almeria has had some exceptional protagonists, with a representation of Almeria chefs from the Eurotoques Association, a European organization whose main objectives are to protect the quality and taste of food, promote the good work of food artisans and protect the diversity of our culinary heritage.

Today’s showcooking was attended by Antonio Carmona, from Terraza Carmona and president of the Association; Mariela Pérez Bocchio, from Ramona La Boutique de La Empanada; Tolo Castillo, from Casa Rafael; Patricio Úbeda, from Hotel Restaurante Blanca Brisa; Rafa Moreno, from Casa de Comidas Los Ángeles; José Vallejo, from Restaurante El Navío and Tony García, from Espacio Gastronómico Tony García.

The Deputy for Agri-Food Promotion, María Luisa Cruz, accompanied the chefs in this initiative and explained that “these activities are a great attraction for all those who come to the fair. It is a quality proposal that allows us to give visibility to the excellent work that our chefs do every day and, at the same time, to disseminate the uniqueness of our recipes”.

In this sense, the deputy has taken the opportunity to invite all citizens to participate in these activities, which are carried out during every lunchtime of the Fair in the Paseo, and, as she has pointed out, “to continue discovering the excellence of the companies and chefs from Almeria and ‘Sabores Almería’. Our Fair has become the right place and time for us to continue enjoying the quality of our land”.

For his part, the president of Eurotoques Almeria, Antonio Carmona, stressed that this entity has more than 3,000 affiliated chefs from 18 countries, that in Spain there are about 700 and, among these, 14 are from the province of Almeria and half of them have participated in today’s showcooking. “We want the work of the Eurotoques Association to be known and that Almeria has a very high standard in gastronomy and cuisine,” she said.

Finally, Mariela Pérez, pointed out that “our aim today is to enjoy the morning and the cooking that we all do at home and in our restaurants, always sharing it with the people of Almería who accompany us every day”.

Antonio Carmona presented a millefeuille of ajo colorao with galanes and Garrucha red prawns; Mariela Pérez a gazpacho of Ramona with marinated Almeria tuna and tomato chuney; Tony García a courgette salad with wakame and pickled onion; Rafael Moreno, sardines with ajoblanco, raspberries and figs; José Vallejo, avocado salad with smoked fish and mackerel confit; Patricio Úbeda, tuna marinated in soy sauce with wakame salad and Tolo Castillo, Almerian delicacy with tomato and melon salad with marinated sardines.
