Two officers of the Local Police of Puerto Lumbreras (Murcia) saved the life of a woman who had choked in her home, as reported by municipal sources in a statement.
The events took place during the afternoon of Friday 19 August, when the woman came out of the toilet in a state of panic and, with her hand on her throat, collapsed on the floor.
The injured woman’s two daughters came out into the street calling for help and a neighbour alerted the officers who were at the barracks, located in the same street.
Meanwhile, the husband tried to help the woman, but she did not respond to stimuli.
On arrival, one of the officers performed the Heimlich manoeuvre, while another was in contact with a doctor from the Emergency Coordination Centre, who provided information on the steps to follow until the medicalised ambulance arrived.
After several repetitions, the woman regained consciousness. The officers remained at the scene until the ambulance arrived minutes later.
Finally, the woman was taken to the Hospital Universitario Rafael Méndez de Lorca.
