The deadline for participation and registration for the IX International Photography Competition “Almería, Tierra de Cine”, within the framework of the activities of the XXI Almería International Film Festival, has begun its countdown. Until 9 September those interested can submit their work to be part of the great Almeria film festival which, this year, will be held from 18 to 27 November 2022.
The competition will accept those photographs that, with a wide and free perspective, capture images of places in the province of Almería, outdoors or indoors, that have been film locations or that could be in future audiovisual productions. Each participant may submit a series with a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 images.
Each photo will be conditioned by the rest of the images and must, as a whole, develop an idea, tell a story or form an aesthetic unity. The photographic technique will be free, in black and white or colour. The series in which there is no excessive digital retouching will be especially valued. The work must be made specifically for this competition and must not have been awarded a prize in any other competition.
The Deputy for Culture and Film, Manuel Guzmán, has invited the people of Almería and those passionate about the landscapes of Almería to participate in FICAL’s photographic competition, which year after year surprises due to the level and excellent quality of the works submitted. “This is one more way we have of promoting and disseminating the locations of the province of Almería as one of the best places in the world for filming audiovisual productions”.
The deadline for registration is 9 September 2021. Registration will be done online at www.festivaldealmeria.com. Only one entry per participant will be accepted. The photographs must be attached to the entry form as a JPG file with a resolution of 72 dpi and 1,200 pixels in length.
The jury, made up of professionals from the photographic, artistic and cultural fields and members of the organisation with voice but no vote, will be responsible for selecting, from among all the series submitted, those that will participate in the Festival, and will also decide, if it deems it appropriate, which photographs will form part of each selected series.
