The Guardia Civil dismantles a greenhouse with 660 large marijuana plants in a villa in San Javier
Two people have been arrested as alleged perpetrators of the offences of cultivation, preparation and trafficking of drugs and forgery of documents.

The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia, within the framework of the ‘Miller’ service order, which develops the ‘Police response plan to the illegal cultivation and trafficking of marijuana and the benefits thereof’, has culminated the ‘Coati’ operation with the dismantling of a marijuana greenhouse in a villa in San Javier, which housed 660 plants, and with the arrest of two people as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of cultivation, processing and trafficking of drugs; and false documentation.

The proceedings began in May, when the Guardia Civil detected the possible existence of a clandestine greenhouse, hidden in a villa in San Javier, from which a strong smell of marijuana was emanating.

Numerous surveillance of the property led to obtaining reliable evidence of the activity carried out in the basement of the detached house, as well as linking two individuals to the alleged criminal practices.

Once the necessary evidence had been obtained, the result of the investigation was brought to the attention of the San Javier Court of Instruction number 1, which granted the corresponding warrant for entry and search.

The cannabis plants were over a metre and a half high

Recently, the Benemérita carried out a search of the house where 660 cannabis sativa plants were seized, which were over a metre and a half tall and were in full bloom, ready for imminent cutting, as well as 16 kilos of crushed marijuana, a kilo of cannabis buds, air conditioning equipment, electrical transformers, precision scales, filters and air extractors; and a car.

As a result of the investigation, the Guardia Civil arrested two men, aged 38 and 58, of Lithuanian nationality, as alleged perpetrators of the offences of cultivation, processing and trafficking of drugs, and forgery of documents.

According to the investigation, they had selected a house with a large basement, which they had rented with false documentation. The garage was set up as an indoor greenhouse with halogen lamps, air conditioners and electrical transformers, among others, to favour the intensive cultivation of cannabis plants.

Their knowledge of the matter became clear when they discovered in one of the rooms an area similar to a laboratory where, using substrates and fertilisers, they used to select a quality plant, whose yield was optimal and which would allow them to obtain a bloom full of buds.

Clandestine greenhouse and retail dosage preparation

In this way, they covered all the stages of the production and distribution chain, from the cultivation and drying of the plants, to their dosage for retail sale, with hardly any intermediaries, which generated higher profits for them.

So far, operation ‘Coati’ has culminated in the arrest of two people and the dismantling of an important point of cultivation, processing and distribution of marijuana in the municipality of San Javier.

The detainees, the drugs and the effects seized, as well as the proceedings, have been placed at the disposal of the Court of Instruction number 1 of San Javier (Murcia). One of the detainees has been remanded in prison.
