The Municipal Centre for the Elderly, in Santiago de la Ribera, will host a training course in digital literacy for the elderly, which will be given by technicians from AFA Levante, the Association of relatives of people with neurodegenerative disabilities and promotion of pathological ageing, from 26 September.
The NGO, which offers its services at its headquarters in the Centro de Mayores, Santiago de la Ribera, on loan from the City Council of San Javier, has obtained European funding through ERDF funds for the development of this course which is offered free of charge to all older people in the municipality and which has among its main objectives the prevention of loneliness and pathological aging.
During the course, which will be held at the Senior Center itself, from 10:00 to 11:30h , attendees will become familiar with basic apps such as Gmail, essential for other functions such as Whatsapp and others as important as the app of the Murcian Health Service, to gain autonomy when making appointments with the doctor, for example.

The councillor for Social Services, Estíbaliz Masegosa thanked the work of AFA Levante in the municipality, through care for people with neurodegenerative problems and other actions such as this course which she considered very necessary so that older people who are not familiar with digital tools can do so in an easy and practical way, breaking the digital divide that exists with the elderly.
Registration is completely free and can be done now at the Concierge’s Office of the Centre or by calling 968126081.
