The delegate of the Government, Aránzazu Martín, attended the Holy Mass in honor of the Virgin of the Saliente that has been celebrated yesterday in the sanctuary of Our Lady of the Good Retreat of the Desamparados del Saliente and that has been presided over by the Bishop of Almería, Antonio Gómez Cantero. Martín wanted to be part of this festivity participating in the Eucharist and in the subsequent procession that took place on the esplanade of the temple.
The sacred image has descended from the chapel before the clamorous expectation of the pilgrims. After being venerated in the presbytery, it has been placed on its famous silver platform and has processed through the esplanade of the Sanctuary where it has received the singing of the popular Salve.
A day that has been preceded by the traditional pilgrimage that takes place from different parts of the province, where many pilgrims climb on foot to pay tribute to «La pequeñica», as they know those born in Albox to its patron.
