The unexpected death a few days ago of Alicia López Mirallas, only 26 years old, has the neighbours of this village of the Almanzora dismayed.
She who was a member and vocal of the Brotherhood of the Holy Christ, will not be there this year to help the waitress to change the vestments of the Holy Christ as it was foreseen. But all the acts which are going to be celebrated this week in honour of the Santo Cristo del Bosque, will be in his honour.
This is how they want it to be in their village. Everybody wants Alicia to be present this year during the next days in each of the most special moments.
Tuesday, September 13th, will be the Descent of the Holy Christ and surely Alicia will be accompanying them wherever she is, and in the heart of all the people of Bacare.
This is the wish of the family, the Town Council, the Brotherhood and all her people.
The acts to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the realization of the carving of the Holy Christ continue, and will be dedicated to Alicia López who passed away due to sudden death.
Her music band, the ‘Asociación Música Cultural Anacrusa’ will have to learn to play without her and they will do it, because it would be what she would have wished for.
Next Thursday, 15th September, there will be a procession to close the celebrations, with the presence of the Bishop of Almería, Don Antonio Gómez Cantero, in the Parish Church of Santa María de Bacares which has recently been proclaimed Sanctuary of the Holy Christ.
The Bacares Town Council agreed in plenary session 3 days of mourning for the death of its neighbour.
Wherever she is, Alicia will be proud of her village, her people and her friends who this week are celebrating the acts and cults of the Santo Cristo de Bacares.
