
San Javier, Cartagena, Los Alcázares and San Pedro del Pinatar will be the four venues of this 1st Mar Menor Fair, which will offer a wide range of proposals for all ages related to water sports, culture, gastronomy and leisure. During four weekends, from 23 September to 16 October, the Mar Menor Fair will offer unique experiences such as paddle surfing routes at sunset, wine tasting on sailing boats, windsurfing, kitesurfing or diving baptisms, photography and guided tours. The programme includes concerts, exhibitions, walking and cycling routes, tapas tours, workshops, crafts, show cooking and graffiti exhibitions.
The initiative, promoted jointly by the Community and the municipalities of the Mar Menor was presented this morning at the Town Hall of San Javier by the director of the Institute of Tourism, Itrem, Juan Francisco Martínez and the mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo in a ceremony attended by the councillors of Tourism of San Pedro del Pinatar, Javier Castejón; Los Alcázares, María José Díaz; Cartagena, Cristina Pérez and San Javier, Antonio Martínez.
Juan Francisco Martínez stated that the Fair will be a focus of attraction for visitors and an invitation to rediscover this environment through sustainable and environmentally friendly activities. He added that it will also help to extend the high season in this area of the Costa Cálida until mid-October, maintaining hotel occupancy and supporting the hotel and catering sector and other services. The Mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo stressed the importance of working together to promote this type of action as well as its contribution to the deseasonalisation.

San Javier opens the Fair from 23 to 25 September with a weekend programme that includes the three national championships that the Water Games will bring to the municipality. A photography competition about the municipality, dramatised visits about cultural heritage and history, Nordic walking routes and a music concert complete the programme in San Javier.
