The street map of San Javier pays tribute to Javier López, a local resident, who is recognised for the active role he played throughout his life in local society and his self-confessed passion for the town where he lived until his death at the age of 77, seven months ago.
The Mayor, José Miguel Luengo and his widow, Maribel Zapata were in charge of unveiling the plaque with his name, «Francisco Javier López Ros», in the old Calle Marañón, a few metres from where Javier López lived all his life, first as a child and then forming his own family.
The event organised by the Town Hall was particularly moving with the presence of his four children, grandchildren and the rest of his family, friends, neighbours and colleagues from the San Javier theatre group, in which Javier López was an institution.

Leonor Benítez, one of the founders of the group was, precisely, in charge of remembering the figure of Javier López who was one of the creators of the mythical local theatre group «Oscar 69», in 1969, which gave birth to the theatre group «Oscar 69». in 1969, which gave rise to the current International Festival of Theatre, Music and Dance of San Javier, of which he was a co-founder.
«With Javier López leaves a part of our history», said the mayor, José Miguel Luengo, who also valued the legacy left by Javier López with so many years of active work in all kinds of associations and cultural, sporting, social, charitable, religious and political activities, in which he left his mark and his memory.
On behalf of the family, his son, Pedro López thanked «the Town Hall and all the people of San Javier for this tribute and for all the expressions of affection that the family continues to receive today», and emotionally underlined what it would have meant for his father and what it means for his family to see his name on one of the streets of his beloved San Javier.
