The spokesman for the Popular Municipal Group in the Zurgena Town Hall, Domingo Trabalón, has highlighted the “neglect” which the town is suffering from the Socialist Party government team and has demanded that the mayor, Francisco Martínez, leave the mayor’s chair and walk around the town to see with his own eyes the “pitiful situation” in which the palm trees and the parks and gardens are in.
Trabalón, who has registered a letter at the town hall asking for solutions, stresses that “the neglect is at its worst” and has caused the palm trees in specific areas of the municipality such as the avenues La Paz and Murcia and the Virgen del Carmen roundabout to be in a situation never seen before by the residents.
Specifically, explains the PP spokesman, the bunches of dates that hang from these trees reach the heads of passers-by, with the consequent discomfort that this causes and also danger because the palm tree can end up collapsing and breaking. For this reason, the PP hopes that the government team will take note and act as soon as possible by tendering for the pruning of these trees which, if they are well cared for, make the streets of the town look very attractive.
“The image that Zurgena projects to the rest of the region is one of absolute neglect and as councillors in opposition we cannot allow our town to get worse every day. We want the town that our neighbours deserve, a place that is clean, cared for and with trees that do not pose a danger to the people who walk along it,” he said.
On the other hand, Domingo Trabalón points out that the town’s parks and gardens are also in a deplorable state.
“Walking through the green areas of Zurgena is a shame. That is why we urge the Socialist Party to take action and work to ensure that we have the town we deserve with well-kept palm trees and parks and gardens in perfect condition for everyone to enjoy,” he concludes.
