The 1st Mar Menor Fair opens this weekend in San Javier

Dramatised visits, ecotourism walks, music, photography and water sports complete a programme that will be held from Friday to Sunday in La Manga del Mar Menor, Santiago de la Ribera, San Javier and Roda.

The municipality of San Javier opens this coming weekend the I Mar Menor Fair which will deploy a varied programme of free activities, which will be concentrated every weekend in one of the coastal municipalities of the Mar Menor until 16 October.

The activity of the Fair in the municipality of San Javier is concentrated between 23 and 25 September and begins with a Photography Competition which will be open throughout the Fair, until 16 October, in which the best photos of the municipality are sought, with two local and two national prizes. The photos should be posted on Instagram with the hashtag #mirinconfavorito. All the details of the competition can be consulted at www.mirinconfavorito.com

On Friday 23 September the Fair offers a dramatised guided tour on “The origin of the Mar Menor (La Manga del Mar Menor), at 12:30 starting at the entrance to the Tomás Maestre port. In the afternoon it will be possible to take part in a 4 kilometre Nordic walking route “Ecotourism in La Manga del Mar Menor”, departing from Calle Tucumán, Km 17. In the evening the appointment will be in the Plaza de España in San Javier, where the Festivals of San Javier, will leave a musical evening with the concert “Boogie Woogie, Swing, Blues, Rock’n Roll”, at 21:00h.

On Saturday 24th September there will be a dramatised visit “La Vía Hercúlea” (San Javier) which will start at 12:00h at the door of the Municipal Museum and in the afternoon there will be an introductory route to Nordic walking in Roda starting at 17:30 in the pine forest to get to know the district, which is famous for its golf course, with a 4 kilometre route.

Mar Menor Fair concert poster (2)On Sunday, 25th September, the last day of the Fair, the programme focuses on Santiago de la Ribera with an Arte-Sano Market, on the Barnuevo esplanade, from 10:00 to 14:00h, a dramatised guided tour to get to know the town, which will leave from the Tourist Office, in Calle Padre Juan, at 11:30h and a Nordic Walking Route in Roda, which will start at 17:30h: 30h and a Nordic Walking Route in the afternoon, at 17:30h, which will leave from Romería de San Blas avenue and will end with a tasting of Cierva cake on the Barnuevo esplanade.

The programme includes important discounts on a wide range of nautical and golf activities such as a paddle surfing route at sunset or a kayak tour “Between islands”, among many others. The Fair includes the 1st Water Games, which will be held on the Mar Menor from 22 September to 2 October, with the first event on Thursday 22 September in Santiago de la Ribera where the Spanish Radio Control Championship will be held throughout the weekend. To the Championship of navigable boats with radio control will be added the canoes participating in the Championship of Spain of Canoeing modality K4 and C4, with Kayak and Canoes of four participants, that will be celebrated on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 next in waters of the Mar Menor, in Santiago de la Ribera.
