09.23.22 The 1st Water Games kick off in different venues on the Mar Menor 01The Councillor for Sports, Sergio Martinez attended last Friday in Cartagena to the opening of the First Water Games to be held until October 2 in different venues of the Mar Menor. The event, which will bring together some 4,000 athletes from all over Spain, includes a total of 19 official Spanish Championships, three of which will take place in the municipality of San Javier.

Next Sunday, Santiago de la Ribera will host the Spanish K4 and C4 Cross-Country Championships, the first of three events to be held in the municipality.

The first of them, “Campeonato de España Travesía K4 y C4”, will be held on Sunday 25th of October. will be held on Sunday 25th September in Santiago de la Ribera, organised by the Royal Spanish Canoeing Federation, with the participation of more than 200 sportsmen and women. It is an open sea canoeing championship with two types of boats, kayak and canoe with two athletes each who will have to complete a distance of 2,500 metres to the finish line which will be located on the Barnuevo beach. The competition can be seen from the shore of the beach from the Club Náutico to Miramar, from 09:00h.

On Thursday 29th the XII Campeonato de España de Mar-Costa Dúos, organised by the Spanish Fishing and Casting Federation, will begin on the Pedrucho, El Arenal and Gaviotas beaches on the Mediterranean coast in La Manga del Mar Menor. The competition, which continues on Friday 30 and Saturday 1 October, with a total of 120 sportsmen and women, consists of fishing for marine species to be judged by a jury and then returned alive to their habitat.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The 1st Water Games kick off in different venues on the Mar Menor 04Finally, Santiago de la Ribera will host the Spanish Radio Control Championship, organised by the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation, from Friday 30 September to Sunday 2 October. The championship, with 30 participants, will be held at the Real Club de Regatas de Santiago de la Ribera and consists of the handling of remote-controlled sailing boats, with traditional sailing regatta manoeuvres in small boats of one metre in length and four kilos of displacement.

The 1st Water Games are the first national sporting event organised by the Spanish Sports Association and ten Spanish Sports Federations related to water sports. The Region of Murcia is the venue for these 1st Games, which will bring together more than 4,000 sportsmen and women from all over Spain from 22 September to 2 October to take part in the 19 championships to be held in Cartagena, Santiago de la Ribera, Cabo de Palos, La Manga, Lo Pagán and Los Alcázares.
