The territorial delegate of Economy, Finance and European Funds, and Industrial Policy and Energy, Guillermo Casquet, has made an institutional visit to the City Council of Macael and the Association of Marble Entrepreneurs of Andalusia, AEMA, in which he has highlighted “the boost of the Andalusian Government to marble thanks to the implementation of the Value Chain Plan CRECE Stone and Marble Industry in Andalusia”.
At the meeting with AEMA, the delegate detailed the general lines of action of the Regional Ministry and discussed the most important issues related to quarries and industry in the region. Casquet explained that the aim of the Plan “is to make efficient use of resources and move towards business models based on digitalisation and environmental sustainability”. The CRECE Industry Plan approved by the Governing Council in June aims to “achieve greater integration of the different actors in the value chain”, so that the search for climate neutrality, the circular economy and the commitment to biodiversity and the natural environment continue to be the backbone of activities in the stone and marble sector.
The industrial plan for stone and marble has been allocated a public budget of 15 million euros from European funding under the new EU framework 2021-2027, specifically ERDF and Just Transition funds. This amount will lead to the mobilisation of 63 million euros in investments.
The meeting was attended by the President of AEMA, Jesús Posadas, together with businessmen from the Association, as well as the Secretary General for Industrial Policy and the Head of the Mining Section of the Regional Delegation. On behalf of the Association of Entrepreneurs, the needs of the sector have been conveyed, as well as the confidence placed in the development of the Andalusian Government’s Plan that aims to promote the growth of the marble industry in the region.
Previously, the territorial delegate has met in the Town Hall of Macael with the mayor of this town, Raúl Martínez, and part of the government team, where they have discussed the most important issues for this municipality mainly related to natural stone.
The delegate stated that “we are going to work to resolve some of the needs of the sector, such as the presentation of the guarantees for the restoration of the sierra, the transfer of quarries and, above all, to support the companies that are suffering from the increase in production costs”. Casquet has announced some of the measures of the Junta de Andalucía, such as the aid for energy efficiency from the Andalusian Energy Agency and the complementary aid to the Regional Economic Incentives”.
