Club Gimansia Playas de San Javier and Club Waterpolo San Javier renew their collaboration agreement with the Town Hall

The Mayor, José Miguel Luengo and the Councillor for Sports, Sergio Martínez met today with the leaders and members of the Club Gimnasia Playas de San Javier and Club Waterpolo San Javier, as part of the round of meetings held with sports clubs in the municipality agreed with the City Council of San Javier.

During the meeting, the mayor and the presidents of both clubs signed the renewal of the agreement that establishes the transfer of municipal spaces and resources to facilitate the activity of each club, with the main objective of promoting variety in sport through different modalities, especially among the youngest, as well as competition.

In the case of the Club Gimnasia Playas de San Javier, its president, María Rodríguez explained that this year they have five coaches who run 2 beginners’ groups, with children from 5 years old, 2 improvement groups and another 2 parkour groups, which is being offered for the first time this year and is one of the new features of the municipal sports programme for this year. In total there are more than 130 children who are introduced and compete carrying the name of San Javier in trampoline and for the first time in parkour. Trampolining has been taught at the San Javier sports centre since 2005.

Water polo also has a long history in municipal sport. Juan Pedro Gallego, president of the Club Waterpolo San Javier recalls that as early as 2005 the local team won the Valencian league, a triumph which was followed by the regional league in 2019, just before the pandemic. The club currently has more than 80 members, including a base team, from the age of four, and a competition team, with teams from bajenamín-alevín, infantil-cadete, and the two senior categories for men and women. The club, which this year has high expectations with the results of the children’s team, has five coaches who are in charge of the different groups.
