The Partido Popular councillor in Purchena Town Council, Joaquín Navío, has asked the council to urgently resolve the serious damage to the road which runs from the centre of this municipality in the Comarca del Almanzora, to the hamlet of Gevas, which was caused by the torrential rains which occurred at the end of last March.
Navío explained that “this problem has been on the table for more than nine months without any solution being found”. Faced with this situation, the PP councillors have asked several times about this issue in plenary, without the government team having provided a solution despite the fact that the situation of the road is a “serious danger for walkers, cyclists and for the vehicles that circulate daily along this road”.
The Popular councillor advocates the search for their own or joint solutions with other institutions. “This road is one of the most frequented places by the residents of Purchena who go up to the recreational area of La Silvera, or the inhabitants who live in houses and farmhouses in the hamlet of Gevas, and it is not acceptable that after nine months with the road in terrible conditions the problem has still not been solved,” he explains.
On the other hand, Joaquín Navío has stated that the cracks and sinkholes in the road, which are next to the municipal deposit, are not properly protected. “We hope for a solution as soon as possible because the most important thing is to guarantee the safety of the residents, as was done with other actions after the rains of the same month,” he said.
Finally, the PP councillor on Purchena Town Council states that “we will continue to work to improve the quality of life of all Purchena residents and demand that the government team act and fulfil its obligations to avoid unnecessary dangers such as those currently caused by the cracks in the road in question”.
