The province of Almeria will showcase its leadership in world agriculture at Fruit Attraction 2022, one of the most important international trade fairs in the sector, which will be held in Ifema, Madrid, from 4 to 6 October. This event has become an essential tool for the marketing of fruit and vegetables, as well as the epicentre of the sector’s avant-garde as the space chosen by companies to present their new products and innovations and to find out about the latest market trends.
The Provincial Council of Almeria will support the companies from Almeria participating in Fruit Attraction with the aim of boosting their presence with institutional support and promoting the province’s gourmet brand ‘Sabores Almeria’. The president of the Provincial Institution, Javier A. García, is attending this forum to support the province’s entrepreneurs and, at the same time, to hold professional meetings to consolidate and open up new marketing markets for ‘Sabores Almería’.
The president of the Provincial Council stated that “at Fruit Attraction, world agriculture will once again witness the leadership of the province of Almeria, a position that the sector maintains through dedication and work with the best innovation, technology, research, environmental and economic sustainability and, in short, by cultivating health that is exported all over the world. All of this has an impact on the image of the province of Almeria associated with the maximum excellence of our agriculture”.
In this sense, the president recalled that the Provincial Institution gives its full support “to the main sector of our productive fabric, if the province of Almeria is a prosperous land, with opportunities, engine of wealth creation and employment in Andalusia is thanks to our countryside. We are at the side of our companies and we are accompanying them at this international fair so that they feel the support of their Provincial Council”.
Likewise, Javier A. García stated that “the demands of our farmers are the demands of the province of Almería”, and insisted that one of them is to ensure quality water at a fair price that allows the sector to continue to grow and compete on equal terms with producers in other countries. In the same way, he recalled that the Provincial Council promotes numerous initiatives in favour of the sector, many of them related to the use of water and others very prominent with rural hygiene with the cleaning and improvement of roads where farms are located.
As for ‘Sabores Almería’, the president pointed out that Fruit Attraction is the ideal event to make progress on the major objectives proposed for the brand in the short term. These are focused on opening new marketing channels and markets, strengthening the degree of consumer identification with the brand, increasing the number of member companies and consolidating the internationalisation of the brand.
Around 70 companies from the province of Almeria are taking part in Fruit Atrraction 2022 and will be showcasing their latest innovations at this forum. Of these, seven of them are part of the gourmet brand ‘Sabores Almería’: Biosabor, Caparrós Nature, CASI, Primaflor, La Unión, Única and Agroponiente.
A global showcase with 1,800 exhibiting companies
The figures for the new edition of Fruit Attraction confirm the importance of this forum as one of the most important in the world for the agricultural sector. The fair is spread over 55,000 square metres in 8 pavilions at Ifema. In this space, which represents an increase of 38% compared to 2021, 1,800 exhibiting companies from 55 countries will exhibit, eleven more than in the last edition.
In addition, this year Andalusia is the guest region of the fair, which reinforces its visibility over the exhibition as a whole. The fair has accredited trade visitors from 130 countries, 32 more than in 2021. The main segments represented are: Fresh produce, auxiliary industry or logistics companies, cold chain management… The Fair is completed with technical seminars, buyers’ programme (more than 700 registered) and the Innovation Forum ‘The Innovation Hub’.
