The Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development has opened the deadline to participate in the IV Edition of the Photographic Competition, ‘Rural and Fishing Environment in Andalusia’, which will have a prize for the winning photograph and, this year, as a novelty, the technical requirements of image have been unified and will receive the delivery of a first prize and a second prize in all themes.
Therefore, a total of 13 prizes will be awarded, with a total of 5,100 euros. The overall winner will receive 600 euros and two prizes will be awarded for each of the themes – the first prize of 500 euros and the second prize of 250 euros. The themes addressed in the competition are as follows: Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, Food, Women in the rural and fishing world and Water in the rural world.
As stated in the Official Gazette of the Andalusian Regional Government (BOJA), those interested in competing in the competition with their images can send their photographs to the Regional Ministry of Agriculture until 31 October. To participate, you must be of legal age and send the Andalusian Government digital images taken in Andalusia that have not been digitally manipulated or are not the result of photographic montage. Participants can choose whether to submit colour or black and white images, as both types are accepted, but always up to a maximum of ten images per photographer. This maximum number per person is calculated by adding up all the photographs that may have been submitted in the different categories.
Giving visibility, highlighting the work of the sector
The competition was created with a clear objective, to respond to the Strategic Plan to improve the competitiveness of the agricultural, livestock, fisheries and agro-industrial sector and rural development in Andalusia 2020-2022, approved on 1 December 2020. Specifically, the Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development wants to deepen, with this contest, the improvement of the image and valuation of the agricultural, livestock and fishing profession by society and the visualisation of the work of women.
As in previous editions, special value will be placed on photographs that offer an attractive vision of the sector and, in the selection of photographs by the jury, it will be taken into account that they show subjects that have been identified as priorities in the Strategic Plan to improve the competitiveness of the agricultural, livestock, fishing and agro-industrial sector and rural development in Andalusia. Concepts such as innovation, digital transformation, combating – mitigating – adapting to climate change, efficient and sustainable use of resources, circular economy, generational change, women, training, quality, agro-industry, fixing rural populations and improving their quality of life, will be particularly highlighted by the jury.
Through this competition, the Regional Ministry of Agriculture aims to promote real knowledge of the sectors and to achieve added value, as the images provided to the Andalusian Government by participating in this competition contribute to improving the Andalusian audiovisual heritage, which will be an important support for future communication actions aimed at highlighting the importance of the agri-food and fisheries sector in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia.
It is vitally important to highlight the work of the men and women of the countryside and to be able to communicate their day-to-day work to the whole community and the rest of the world, so that the daily work and the great contribution they make to obtaining healthy, top quality products, which also help to stabilise the population, contribute to the environment and develop roots and culture, can be appreciated.
