Second Covid-19 booster dose for the over-60s starting today
Influenza vaccination for the State Security Forces and Corps, penitentiary institutions and other professions is also starting.

The Andalusian Regional Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs starts this Monday, 24 October, the vaccination of the second Covid-19 booster dose for people between 60 and 64 years of age, as well as the vaccination against influenza for the personnel of the State Security Forces and Corps, penitentiary institutions, and other professions, among which are workers in poultry or pig farms. Prison staff and inmates will also receive the second booster dose of Covid-19 vaccination.

This marks the beginning of the third phase of the vaccination campaign that began on 3 October with people over 80 years of age, institutionalised persons in residential centres for the elderly and disability centres, as well as staff and trainees in health centres, socio-health centres, residences and disability centres.

The second phase began on Monday 17 October with the flu vaccination of children aged between 6 and 59 months, for the first time in Andalusia. There are approximately 311,400 children in this age group in the region. The flu vaccination combined with the second booster dose of Covid-19 also began last week for people aged 65 and over, people with chronic pathologies aged 5 to 64, those who are dependent at home and their professional carers, and pregnant women.

From 3 October until last Tuesday, 257,826 people in Andalusia have been vaccinated with the second booster dose of Covid-19. By province, 20,947 vaccines have been administered in Almeria; 32,068 in Cadiz; 34,554 in Cordoba; 33,260 in Granada; 14,873 in Huelva; 26,672 in Jaen; 40,293 in Malaga and 55,159 in Seville.

The Regional Minister of Health and Consumer Affairs, Catalina García, has encouraged the most vulnerable groups to get vaccinated against both influenza and Covid-19, for which she has invited them to make an appointment through the Salud Responde application or by telephone, ClicSalud+ or directly at their health centre. On this occasion, there will be no vaccinodromes, but vaccination will be carried out at the 1,500 health centres throughout Andalusia.
