The Moisés Ruiz Pavilion of the Provincial Council of Almería hosted the launch of the XLVI edition of the Marble Climb. The Provincial Institution has consolidated its support for the most important mountain motor racing event in Andalusia, which will bring together 129 registered participants and more than 25,000 spectators.
The presentation was attended by the provincial deputy, Francisco Álvarez, as well as the mayor of Macael, Raúl Martínez, the president of the Andalusian Motor Racing Federation, Manuel Borbalán, and the president of the Escudería del Mármol, Ana Belén Tapia.
Francisco Álvarez praised the celebration of a classic event on the Andalusian motor racing calendar: “This is one of the five most highly rated events in Andalusia, which makes our region the epicentre of this sport. We all know this municipality for its natural stone and also for its commitment to tourism-culture, tourism-sport and tourism-industry”, he explained.
In the same way, he detailed that “the track would receive more than 25,000 spectators” with all that this entails for the economy of the municipality and the Mármol region. The provincial deputy acknowledged the work of the Town Hall, the Escudería and the Federation in defence of this sport and of an event that is a benchmark at Andalusian level.
He also stressed that “the collaboration with this sporting event defines the roadmap set by the president of the Provincial Institution to promote the socio-economic development of the interior of the province and settle the population in the territory”.
For his part, the mayor was “proud” to present “the longest-running Mountain Rally event in Andalusia”. He also thanked the president of the Federation for his commitment to a great test very dear in the calendar for “drivers, teams and fans.
Raúl Martinez has put in value that the route is designed for the public for its ‘natural stands’ and to promote visits to the region and disseminate the gastronomy and charms of the municipality.
The 46th edition of the Subida del Mármol will have 129 participants of which 50 are from the Escudería del Mármol: “A proof of the motor racing enthusiasm of the municipality”.
On the other hand, Manuel Borbalán emphasised his “special affection” for this event, both as an Almerian and as President of the Federation: “It is the best hillclimb in Andalusia of the 14 events in this category. I would like to thank the Escudería and the Town Hall for working to make this event one of the best in Spain”.
Borbalán detailed that this edition will have a caravan of more than 2,000 people who will generate a very important economic impact for the region.
Finally, the president of the Escudería del Mármol detailed that the optional scrutineering begins on Friday at 15.30 hours; at 21.00 hours in the Town Hall there will be a presentation ceremony for the drivers. On Saturday is the climb with the participants of the exhibition and on Sunday the official competition.
