The new leadership of the PSOE of Albox has demanded that the mayor of the municipality reinstate the Civil Protection service as well as the incorporation of four more officers to the Local Police, a body that currently has 11 active officers when, according to the socialists, there should be 17 officers in the staff based on the Municipal Budget of last year.
“Public safety is one of the public services most valued by the citizens, but in Albox, due to the mismanagement of the government team, we suffer a shortage of these resources” while the agents who provide their service today “are saturated” which “threatens to endanger such a fundamental service for the people of Albox as security,” they insisted.
The PSOE of Albox demands that the councillor “comply with the budget and provide the Local Police with adequate staff to dignify their work and provide the service that our town needs”. They claim that there are times during the week when “there is only one operational officer, which means that he cannot go out to attend to any incident outside the building”, they warned, and they propose that the council promotes two officers to officer and publishes four officer posts to comply with the approved budget.
The Alboja socialists are also concerned about the situation of the material resources available to the officers. “All the vehicles are between 13 and 17 years old” and, in addition to the high level of maintenance, “the level of CO2 emissions is very high”. They also point out that the internal communication equipment “is 19 years old and no longer fulfils its function effectively”.
The socialists of Albox also reproach the mayor and his team for having terminated “from one day to the next without warning and without explanation” the Civil Protection service and stress that, among other issues, “the volunteers who were part of this service deserve better treatment”; something that has not been given to them by the Municipal Government. They consider Civil Protection to be an “instrument of the town’s public safety policy to continue guaranteeing the integrity of people and property in a multitude of events, such as the pilgrimage to the Saliente, the parade of kings or sporting activities”, so they call for their immediate reinstatement.
Animal collection service
On the other hand, the new leadership of the PSOE of Albox considers it convenient that the town hall closes a collaboration agreement with an animal shelter that is responsible for collecting dangerous stray animals and to ensure dignified treatment to them, and remember that there was a previous agreement that was eliminated “overnight” by the government team. “Now nobody is in charge of it and when a person calls to report that a dangerous animal is in the street, no solution can be found,” they pointed out.
