Everything went wrong for Cantoria 2017 this Sunday at the Campo Municipal Los Olivos where more than 400 people attended the match against Almuñecar City, corresponding to the sixth matchday of Group 2 of the División de Honor Andaluza.
The home side were dominant in the first half, with the young Malaga side just defending and waiting for a chance that didn’t come in the first 45 minutes.
Nobody was getting impatient in the Aurinegro camp, because the feeling that was transmitted from inside the pitch was that the goal could come at any moment.
It was Reche who gave a warning and smashed the ball against the crossbar in the eighth minute of the second half with a free kick.
But the only goal of the game came for the visitors, after another lapse in concentration from the home defence; a carbon copy of previous games. The referee whistled for a foul which started to be discussed and the play itself became confusing. A cross into the box and Fran was on his own to beat Guille. 1 a 0. It was 16 minutes into the second half.
In the next play, Darío went to look for a ball in the opponent’s corner flag area, a place where nothing is at stake. The Cantorian defender lifts his leg, the defender exaggerates the foul and the referee interprets it as a reckless action by the centre-back. A straight red card at the wrong time.
In the 22nd minute Reche went off injured. At this point Cantoria were pushing more with heart than with football. In the 40th minute Migui had a chance but headed into the hands of Lolo in the small area. In the 44th minute, Casas was left with the ball behind when he was one on one with the rival goalkeeper.
In the 94th minute, referee Martínez Palomares sent off Almuñécar’s Harith Jargavani for a double yellow card. On the hour mark, Cristo headed wide from a cross from the right.
0-1 and a win for the Almuñécar academy (8 points) who climb up the standings in Group 2 of the first Andalusian league.
Next matchday Cantoria 2017 visits Unión Deportiva San Pedro.
