Guardia Civil clears up a robbery committed in October in a company in Cartagena – GUARDIA CIVIL

The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia clarified a robbery with force in an industrial warehouse in Cartagena with the location and arrest of the alleged perpetrator and the recovery of all the effects stolen from the business, such as tools and machinery.

The actions began at the end of last October, when the Guardia Civil was alerted to the commission of a burglary in a warehouse in an industrial estate in the municipality of Cartagena.

Several members of the Civil Guard’s Citizen Security Prevention Unit went to the scene and verified that a robbery had just been committed using the butrón method in a business dedicated to the sale and repair of agricultural machinery.

The first investigations carried out allowed the Civil Guards to establish that the robbery had been committed by two people who had forced their way into the shop after making a hole in the building with a sledgehammer. They also started to track the objects stolen by means of a locator, most of them tools and machinery.

Several patrols of the Benemérita were coordinated to establish an operative device on the coast of Mar Menor, which resulted in the location of two vehicles involved in the acts. One of them was used to commit the crime and the other was used to transport the stolen objects without arousing suspicion.

The vehicle used in the commission of the offences was listed as having been stolen in the town of Guardamar del Segura in Alicante and had been abandoned by the alleged perpetrators in the middle of the public road, where, in the presence of a Guardia Civil patrol that was following their steps, they fled on foot.

After inspecting the vehicle, the Civil Guards found inside the vehicle the tools that had been used by the perpetrators to make the hole, but the stolen objects were not found.

Shortly afterwards, and as a result of the device established, the Guardia Civil located a van in the Pacheco district of Balsicas that was carrying all the objects that had been stolen from the shop hidden under a blanket, which were seized together with the vehicle and where the driver was arrested.

In addition to the objects stolen and recovered that same night, the Guardia Civil also found in the van other objects that had been stolen in other robberies in premises dedicated to the sale of agricultural material.

The detainee -who is attributed, at least, the presumed authorship of the crimes of robbery with force and vehicle theft-, the seized effects and the proceedings have been placed at the disposal of the Court of Instruction of Cartagena (Murcia).

The Guardia Civil has opened the corresponding investigation to clarify more criminal acts, to find out the illegal origin of the rest of the recovered objects and to arrest the rest of the people involved in the facts.
