Almeria Provincial Council has started the works of the Plan de Fomento de Empleo Agrario 2021/2022 in 87 municipalities, the ELA of Fuente Victoria and an Association of Municipalities. The special deputy delegate of the PFEA, Matilde Díaz, and the mayor of Alcudia de Monteagud, Juan Manuel Sánchez, have visited, in this municipality of the FIlabres, one of the 241 projects managed by the Provincial Council in the province.
In this sense, the PFEA, which is an example of institutional collaboration between the Government of Spain, the Junta de Andalucía, the Diputación and local councils, this year increases its investment effort to more than 15.49 million euros.
The Provincial Institution has already advanced 60% of the cost of the materials to the municipalities of the province to guarantee the execution of the works. The PFEA materials are financed by the Junta de Andalucía and the Provincial Government. “We have already started work on the 241 projects that aim to boost employment and improve municipal infrastructures and services.
The provincial deputy of the PFEA has valued the effort made by the Provincial Council for a “vital” programme for the municipalities of the interior because “it equalises opportunities, improves our villages and creates employment”. In addition to the contribution made by the Provincial Institution to finance the materials, there are also the management costs: 3 million euros. “Within the 241 projects we are going to improve 20 schools, five barracks and we are going to have 42 stable employment projects to fight against depopulation, such as the one we are working on today in Alcudia. We are going to improve facilities to create museums or ethnographic centres, tourist accommodation, promote marketplaces and business incubators.
The management model of the PFEA in Almeria is a benchmark for the facilities it provides to municipalities and workers: “We take care of the administrative management, all the technical management, training and occupational risk prevention and COVID-19, explained the deputy.
The Diputación manages a total of 5,134 contracts for 2,602 workers who benefit from 133,930 days’ work throughout the year.

Alcudia benefits from almost 1,000 day jobs
The municipality of Alcudia de Monteagud is benefiting from the creation of almost 1,000 jobs. Specifically, the works that have begun in the municipality are fundamental because they will allow equal opportunities and improve the quality of life of its residents.
The project they have visited is a Dry Stone Theme Park, which will generate 430 jobs and employment afterwards. Matilde Díaz revealed that this project aims to turn this municipality into a tourist reference point in the region of Los Filabres.
For his part, the mayor explained that the PFEA, one of the main objectives of the Town Hall is to fix and attract population where “the PFEA intervenes creating welfare by improving the infrastructure of the villages, beautifying them and bringing technologies such as wifi and fibre optic networks that we already have”.
In turn, the mayor stressed that the PFEA “is allowing us to enhance the value of what we already had in the municipality. We started work on the Museum of the Ecological History of Almeria, a highly innovative theme. Now we have a very important grant, and the maximum collaboration of the Diputación and the Junta, to make the Parque Temático de la Piedra Seca, the first in Andalusia. It is going to be fundamental for this town to move forward.
In addition, a platform is being built in this municipality for the installation of waste collection containers, as well as improvements to drainage and paving in Era Street.
