The outbreak of sheep and goat pox (SVC), detected in the municipality of Oria, close to the border with Granada, is evolving favourably from the epidemiological point of view, according to health sources linked to the Junta de Andalucía.
On 15 and 16 November, saliva swabs were taken from all sheep farms located within seven kilometres of the outbreak by the Central Veterinary Laboratory in Algete, the results of which were negative after PCR testing of all samples.
The veterinary services of the province have inspected fifty-three farms located within a ten-kilometre radius of the outbreaks, without finding any symptoms compatible with goat pox. In addition, 35% of the sheep population of the region has been checked within a radius of between ten and twenty-five kilometres of the outbreaks, without observing any symptoms compatible with sheep pox and goat pox.

Both farms completed preliminary cleaning and disinfection on 16 November.
